OUR FINAL LEG
So after dropping mini man off we checked our bank accounts and both decided, we need a job. So we headed no
rth to a place called Gympie. Yep thats right Gympie ,this is a town that is know by australians as ...how can I put this......eerrrmm in-bred I suppose is the best way they describe it. This town was filled with simple folk who just went through life never leaving Gympie . We managed to get a job fruit packing. We worked for a Swiss guy named Heinz.
The fruit we picked was called the persimmon and it looked like a giant tomato but`tasted sweet. After 4 weeks of this job I waved goodbye to Gympie. May this place live in our hearts forever.
Our next stop was the Whitsundays. Here I booked a dive in what some say is the third best dive spot in the world. What made this even better was I was the only one diving so it was just me and the instructor......SWEET
The boat that took us round the Whitsundays was a catamaran sailing boat and due to low season we got it cheap and there were only 8 of us on board instead of the normal 20ish. It was a real good day out and knowing we saved ourselves about $50 as well made it that bit better.
After the Whitsundays we went to Mission Beach the home of cassowaries. These strange animale are said to be the most dangerous in the world and can disembowel u with one swipe of the giant claw. These strange animals are what have helped in the growing of the rainforrest by the carrying of seeds to different areas.
We next arrived in Cairns, our final destation in Australia. We decided to check into a villa so we could clear out our van ready for selling. The villa we stayed in may have been basic but after living in a van for nearly a year a room with a double bed and air-con was amazing plus it was cheaper then staying in a hostel due to it being low season.
So we decided to sell our van and try and see if we could get to Thailand to see my brothers. We had to lower the price but in the end we sold it to 5 irish guys/girls and we only made a $300 loss whats not bad due that we did 22,000km in her.So after saying an emotional goodbuy to ellie we raced to the travel agent to try and change our tickets to get to Thailand.
Afte explaining our situation to the travel agent, he told us it would nearly be next to imposible to get the seats changed for the next day. An hour later we left the travel agent with our ticket booked to Sydnet that night and a flight to Thailand early the next day .
So 24 hours after selling our beloved van, we were on the plane to Hong Kong to get a flight to Thailand .
WE HAD MADE IT TO THAILAND
