There and back again
A Cheesy Tale

After my near death experience with the sharks and sea snakes at Ningaloo Reef, we decided that all this town life was for wannabe travellers, so we thought we’d take it to the next step …… you probably ask what could the next step be: we had travelled long distances, seen many dangerous native creatures and swam with some of the most dangerous sea creatures around. We looked at our map and decided to go into the wild so we headed for Karijini national park to do some bush walking.
We arrived at the park after a 600k drive and parked at our camp site . This site was quite different to what we had been used to. No power or showers and the loo was a bush loo (a hole in the ground with a loo on top) there were guided tours of the world famous crystal clear gorges we could of went on but as hardened travellers we decided to head out on our own for the 3 hour trek that laid before us ( plus we couldn’t afford the $150 each for the day tour.) We packed our bags with water and suntan lotion and headed out on our trip in the 32oC+ heat. We reached out first look out point after a ten min walk this was a view of the circular pools what would be our first destination .

We decided to head down. Looking at our map it looked like the only way down were very steep broken steps heading down so after much discussion we headed down this old and broken looking trail 20mins later we reached the bottom hot and sweaty, we took a break . After a quick drink we headed toward the circular pools . This was no normal walk trail we had to climb and wade through streams and keep a eye out for spiders and snakes this was as real to bush walking as I would like to do. 30mins of climbing and wading we reached the clear waterfall filled gorge and after this very hot and sweaty walk I peeled of my top and jumped in and it was so refreshing.
After 20mins of swimming and lazing around we got dressed and headed back along our route to the other end of the gulley to another waterfall filled gorge. Again the walk was tough and we even ran into some big spiders and bigger lizards( 3ft).
But after a gruelling 1and a half hour trek we arrived at what was a more amazing looking gorge then the last one. We took a few pic’s and again we dived in and basked in the cool waters and baking midday sun.

Later that night while we were in our van talking about our big day out we looked out our van to see dingo’s walking past; we really were out in the outback.
The next day we hit the road; next stop Port Headland famous for its big port, iron ore mining and I guess for that big pile of salt we drove past on the way in. .I am not kidding it was like a small hill. Oh and its 180 carriage trains! After chilling there for a few days in the tropical pool we headed 300k up the road to 80mile beach it was quite fun getting to because we had to drive down a 10k unsealed roads like the ones on the Australia adverts ( bright red sand) the campsite was right on the beach and the beach itself was white sand and blue ocean something out of a film with a nice breeze to go with it.

The next day we drove to broome and on our trip we drove through a bush fire what was pretty big we did not quite know what to do so we thought what would the littlest hobo do in this situation. We came up with the idea that he would single handedly put the fire out and maybe deliver a new born baby for good mesure before heading on with his journey. We thought the first two parts were a bit out off our reach so we decided just to carry on our merry way and just drive through it.. we arrived at broome and my god it was hot the 38 C + every day . the good news was we had a great pool to cool down in plus we were a 10min walk from the beach which had great sunsets. we visited a croc park which was pretty cool . i dont know how stevo toyed with them like he did the are scary little fuckers. I advise anyone who ever comes near one to run first and crap there pants later because they are the ultimate predator .






After nine days of relaxing an catching up with long lost relatives we decided we better get back to travelling down south for the ashes and it was to dam hot . So at 6 the next morning we headed out on our 600km trip back to port Hedland after a long 8 hour slug we reached port Hedland not before running into a few cyclone what was pretty scary to start with. After arriving we had a all u can eat Chinese take away for $5 each then to a long deserved dip in the pool .
Again we had a another early start for our next leg . Our destination was Newman another big trip at 450km but after the day before trip plus it being a little cooler we made short work of the trip.
After that are trip back to perth went very quick it took 4days to get to perth from broome and at 2230km going at 80kmph that was alot for driving.
